We've had a lot of ups and downs this November and that rest we were looking for was nowhere to be found! Here's some of our musings:
We went biking riding, played playdough, found the biggest Mickey mouse stuffed animal anywhere at Costco with Grandme Debbie, and most importantly donated all of the candy we acquired from Halloween to the Ronald Mcdonald House. It was Landon's idea to take all of his candy to boys and girls who might not have gotten any. This just melted our hearts!
Our church held a "Fall Festival" one evening and it was a huge hit, Landon is still talking about it. He got his face painted for the first time, held baby bunnies and petted other farm animals, and played games. I really do love our church, being part of such a big church community has it's benefits like festivals and movie nights.
We built another masterpiece at the Home Depot kids workshop.
Landon absolutely loves using a hammer so I gave him a big bowl full of ice cubes and a rubber mallet and let him go at it! The boys have also been doing quiet a bit of hiking lately that's turned into what Landon calls "trailblazing" when daddy brings saw looking tool and they've now cut a path down to the wash nearby us.
With the weather being beautiful this November we spent lots of time with the neighborhood kids at our park. It's been so great he's old enough now to make friends and sort of hang with the older kids. Dale also took on a HUGE project...he installed a new gas pipeline throughout our house to hook up to our new slide in gas range!! It took a long time and was so much work for him (and his dad Ray who helped!) but the end result is glorious! And as usual Landon had to get in on helping daddy with his project. Then after continued trips to the urgent care like the one in the picture here, Landon got this rash that covered his entire body and moved around.
One terrible night we ended up in the ER :(. Landon has been having trouble breathing with wheezing and coughing, hes had fevers and that rash that wasn't itchy or an allergic reaction to anything. We had made several trips to the urgent care and one right before Thanksgiving where we spent 3 hours one night and still he was barely breathing and wheezing. We left the urgent care questioning whether he was going to be okay that night and sure enough once we drive home exhausted we knew something was very wrong. He was gasping for air and you could tell in his face something was very wrong. I called the pediatrician who told us to go straight to the ER at the Children's Center a half hour away or call 911. We decided to drive FAST to the ER and I was trembling. As soon as we ran into the ER with him the doctors whisked him away and began helping him breathe and taking care of him. He started to turn around but needed a lot of steroids and Albuterol to keep his breathing normal so after an overnight stint in the ER they admitted him to the Children's Hosptial upstairs where we spent another day. He was such a trooper about the whole thing! He's not the type of boy to sit still for any amount of time and even being chained to his bed for the duration of our stay with monitors he was just amazing. And the nurses LOVED him being the ham he is. We really had something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, Landon is now healthy with the help of medications and we now know he has Asthma that can be cared for.
After we all recovered from the sleep deprivation from the hospital stay we got back to normal decorating the house, going to church, and having a lovely Thanksgiving. I hope to get the pictures from Thanksgiving soon and will put them up :)
Here, Landon is helping daddy use the saw at Home Depot. Part of our ongoing renovations around the house! We also hosted Bob and Winni over for dinner at our house one evening. Landon made sure to show Bob, whose very handy, his own handy man skills. We had a nice storytime at the library and played on their computers. And I got a fabulous night out with lovely ladies for my dear friend Kelly's Bridal Shower!
Lastly, we got our Christmas lights put up on the house! Of course Landon had to do everything daddy did and wouldn't allow dad to be on the ladder without being right there with him. It was an eventful November with all the highs and lows and couldn't be any more excited for Christmas coming soon!
So glad that Landon is doing better. What a scary time that must have been for you and Dale. You both are wonderful, loving, and all around awesome parents! Landon's a lucky kiddo. :)
